Arnette Shoffeitt


ShareSAPPHIRE, N.C. – Arnette Kay Shoffeitt, 73, of Sapphire, N.C., and Marco Island, Fla., formerly of Dixon, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement, after a long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Shoffeitt was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa, to Arnold and Florence Lund. She graduated from Dixon High School, and from the University of Iowa with a degree in journalism. She also earned a master’s degree in management from Northwestern University.

Mrs. Shoffeitt was a newspaper reporter for the Honolulu Star Bulletin for 9 years before joining United Airlines, where she rose to the position of director of corporate communications, before retiring in 1988.

A longtime resident of the Chicago area before retiring to Western North Carolina and Florida, Mrs. Shoffeitt was an avid golfer, accomplished piano player, and experienced world traveler.

She is survived by her stepson, Todd Shoffeitt and his wife, Kelly of Sapphire, N.C., and stepson, Dean Shoffeitt of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her niece, Margo Stutesman of Cary, N.C.; and her nephew, Brian Lund of Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Farrell Shoffeitt, who died in 2008; and her brother, Larry Lund.
