I remember Bill mostly from band and German Band. He was one really funny guy...great sense of humor...always upbeat. I regret that I know nothing of his life after high school. The world could use a lot more of the Bill Badie that I do remember.      Chuck Rizner

Rudy Marloth

If only I could have a do-over.  Before high school, Bill made an effort to be my friend.  I did not act on it, thinking that I already had Wally, Joe, Howard, Austin and did not need any more.  After 1956 we corresponded some.  He was a very smart, able, and good looking guy.  He had a daughter who played college basketball.  He told me that he and a partner installed security doors for Home Depot and that their boss told them they had to work slower because customers complained about the high price for such quick work

Bill was a member of our tennis group going to Clinton Iowa to play.  When we all went to a local soda fountain place and ordered, the clerk refused to serve Bill.  We all left immediatly.  This was my first direct experience with racial discrimination (barring just comments from people).

I had little idea that Dixon and our environs were just as bad as over the years we have heard of some of the things that went on in Dixon also.  ]

I would like to mention Billy's mother.  A fine lady who as I recall hosted a cub scout group as well as other things.

(And Rudy's memory is a bit lapsed.  Cushing could cover Bob Bay!)
